What can I recycle at home?

These items go in the SAME bin (comingled):

Plastic

  • #1 and #2 bottles with a neck (rinsed and remove caps), examples: beverages, milk jugs, detergent, cleaners

 

Paper

  • Cardboard, flattened, max size of 2'x2′ square
  • Cardboard tubes
  • Catalogs
  • Magazines
  • Newspapers
  • Office paper, colored paper, note pads, letters, paper bags
  • Paperboard boxes (tissues, shoe, cookie, cereal, crackers), liner removed
  • Phone books
  • Scrap Paper

 

Metal

  • Aluminum and tin cans (rinsed)
  • Aluminum trays, pie tins (clean)
  • Empty aerosol cans (plastic caps removed)
  • Steel cans (rinsed)

These items go in a SEPARATE bin:

Glass

  • Bottles and jars
    • Mix all colors together
    • Labels are OK
    • Take off lid and put it with your comingled recycling

 

Motor Oil

  • Place next to recycle car in a clear plastic container with a screw-on lid (1-gallon or smaller)
  • Don't mix with other liquids

NOT allowed

  • Plastic Bags
  • Styrofoam
  • Frozen food boxes
  • Clamshell plastic
  • Yogurt, sour cream, cream cheese type tubs
  • Aseptic containers
  • Shredded paper
